Asma is the creator of ‘Little Heart People’ artworks. Asma says “The Heart People drawings started 8 years ago. I was in deep depression after my dad passed away. I started to write stories of things that are right and wrong. The heart people in the drawings would explain what the story is trying to say or mean. It was a way that helped me remember that we are never alone, even if we feel we are. Few years ago, I realized that the Heart People are memories of the stories my dad & grandmother told me. I carry these special stories in my heart, that explains why the heart people are important…
That’s why I want to share it with the world.”

Asma’s “Little Heart People” artworks are merchandized on various products. Her artwork along with these products were displayed at the Ajman Museum heritage district, Al Murabba Arts Festival where they received much acclaim. Her products will also be soon displayed at the Smithsonian FolkLife Festival Marketplace 2022, Washington DC. Asma continues to market her products at Taskheel, Villa 10.

Asma is a poet and author. One of her short stories has been published in the book ‘Traveler’s Tales’ which was well appreciated. She is very soon launching her book of Peoms titled “Heart and Mind” in Dubai, U.A.E. Inspirational, educational and heartfelt are the best words, Asma describes her book as. Her aspiration is to use her voice and skills to advocate for the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities (People of Determination). Asma quotes “I am determined to help create a world where inclusivity is the norm, and not the exception.”

Being invited to represent UAE at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival 2022, Washington DC was a life changing experience.

 

I learned to be independent, gave workshops, showcased my art, sold my merchandise at the Marketplace, had the privilege to meet several dignitaries and had a good time.
